From my side of the family the traditional cranberry bread. From my wife’s side is the prune bread. To those who wrinkle their noses at the name prune  bread, it’s kind of like a plum pudding in loaf form with lots of clove and cinnamon. Very good.

I’ve been thinking lately I should try again something I haven’t done for about 10 years: make banana raisin bread. Or, better yet, try banana blueberry.

(I don’t like nuts, so usual banana bread is off the menu.)

You should. The bananas should be extra ripe. Sometimes we just freeze them until we want to make bread. They work well because they’re mush when they thaw. I like nuts, but just as often we leave them out and add chocolate chips instead. Make your own rules.

I don’t like bananas. You think pumpkin raisin bread is edible?

There is no one way to eat unhealthy at Christmas.

Yes!  Pro tip:  winter squash is better than pumpkin if you can get it. I roast mine from my dad’s garden.
